Xangari Institute delivers culturally responsive, trauma-informed mental health and wellness services for individuals and families, integrating evidence-informed practices with community-based supports to improve emotional regulation, relational health, and help-seeking access.

    • Viva Play (0-5). Early childhood and caregiver wellness are rooted in play, attachment, language, and culturally affirming connections.

    • Rhythms of Home. Interactive family storytelling, music, and art experiences that increase access to support.

    • Altura Fatherhood Program. Support for fathers and father figures through reflection, parenting tools, cultural grounding, and healing-centered community.

    • Caregiver circles and workshops. Practical tools for parenting, regulation, home routines, and community care.

    • Youth identity and resilience support. Workshops and healing spaces for middle school, high school, and transition-age youth.

    For children, fathers, parents, caregivers, and families seeking culturally rooted wellness and belonging.

    • Integrated care and referrals: Support with navigating services, coordinating referrals, insurance guidance, and connecting to appropriate levels of care.

    • Case management and wellness coordination: Practical support with follow-up, resource access, scheduling, and continuity of care.

    • Maternal mental health support:

      • Nana’s Hands: Culturally affirming spaces for stress, identity shifts, and perinatal wellbeing.

      • Amor de Casa: Community-based postpartum support.

    • Raíz y Respiro circles: Community healing circles centered on softness, safety, ancestral support, and emotional regulation practices.

    • Recovery and transition-age support: Culturally responsive support for young adults navigating substance use recovery and major life transitions.

    • CEU-accredited workshops. Training for mental health professionals on trauma-informed, culturally rooted, and ancestral healing approaches.

    • Cultural Reconnection & Ancestral Wellness Programs. Healing-centered programs rooted in P’urhépecha and Mexica teachings, storytelling, traditional arts, ceremony, and ancestral mindfulness practices, supporting identity, belonging, and intergenerational healing through cultural reconnection and wellbeing, including maternal and heritage language reclamation for individuals and families strengthening their mother tongue as part of cultural wellness.

    • School and agency partnerships. Custom workshops, consultation, parent education, and staff wellness experiences.

    • Retreats, hikes, and immersive experiences. Nature-based and community-centered healing opportunities for reflection, restoration, and reconnection.

    • Community wellness events. Festivals, circles, and gatherings that bring mental health support into culturally meaningful public spaces. 

  • Individual Therapy A supportive space to process stress, trauma responses, grief, identity, and life transitions—while building practical tools for nervous-system steadiness and self-trust.

    Couples Therapy Strengthen communication, repair after rupture, rebuild trust, and create new patterns of connection—without blame, with clarity and care.

    Family Therapy Support healthier family dynamics, parenting communication, and intergenerational healing. Sessions are collaborative and paced for safety and respect.

Cafecito Consult - 30 min free.

A brief, low-pressure conversation to see if we’re a good fit. We’ll talk about what you’re needing, what kind of support you’re looking for (individual, couples, family, or parenting/perinatal), and answer your questions about scheduling and fees.

Cuentame - Intake

If we move forward, you’ll complete a short intake so we can understand your goals, current stressors, and supports. In the first session, we slow down and gather your story with care—at a pace that feels safe and respectful. 90 min

Cierra Ciclo/Discharge/Post Care Plan

When you’re ready, we shift into a gratitude/closure phase that focuses on long-term support. We review what worked, name your strengths, and create a plan for continued care.

El Plan / Treatment Plan

Together we create a plan that fits your real life. This isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s tailored to your needs, culture, nervous system, and relationships.

Our work is guided by cultural dignity, reciprocity, intergenerational wellness, and accessible care.

The Círculo de Guardianes Culturales is our leadership circle of community leaders, cultural knowledge holders, and organizers committed to preserving and activating Indigenous knowledge, maternal language, and cultural practices as pathways to healing and wellbeing. As Promotores Culturales, they support outreach, education, and community engagement, while as Guardianes, they uphold cultural integrity, ceremonial respect, and intergenerational knowledge that sustain collective wellbeing.
